Embers Found, and a couple of updates

Thanks to a friendly blogger, Lisa M. , I now have more HDF Embers thread and can continue on with stitching my Quaker piece. Which is what I did last night! First let me show you the package from Lisa, which had more than the Embers thread!

Besides the Embers spools, there were also two Exemplar August spools, which contain lots of green, which just HAPPENS to be the color I have chosen in my mind for the NEXT Quaker I do! Plus, a really really pretty card with a Cardinal on it, and CHOCOLATE!

Here is a closeup of the Exemplar August thread...

I HAD to do something to KEEP this beautiful card, and this frame is perfect! I had found it when thrifting, and MEANT to gift to someone, but it's MINE now! I LOVE THIS!

Here is the progress I made on Quaker 1. I cannot get a great shot, or edit it to show that the thread has red, purple, brown and a smidge of green in it... Maybe one day...

I worked a bit more on Tulip Garden this week, and here is my progress picture. I am very close to reaching the width of the piece.

This past week, we were basically snowed in... though, technically, it was ice on top of snow! Which put me in a mood to stitch a quick wintery piece... This is a freebie by SamSarah. Kinda cute... I think I will finish-finish it today.

Well, that is all for now! Been a great birding weekend, so pop on over to the blog to see!

ISO: HDF regular silk called Embers

Well, it's still winter isn't it? Brrrr... it is 19 degrees, feeling like 7 degrees. NOT my fave! So, I have been very flighty... guess it is winter doldrums. But I am moving from one project to another to another... I get bored after working on one, so move to another. And then I decide to start a NEW one... thus my post title.

I started a Quaker piece by Monasterium called Quaker 1. Using an R&R overdyed fabric called Olde Towne Blend. It's a really nice color, and so soft. I had this kitted up with a nice variegated thread called Embers by Vikki Clayton/Hand Dyed Fibers. Obviously, kitted for a while, since Vikki no longer does the silks. Not thinking about this, I progressed nicely... until I cut another length, and noticed that 5 yards isn't going very far! Oh no! I only have one skein!! So I am putting out the request... Does ANYONE have a skein or two of Embers??? Here is what it looks like:

And here is where I am on the Quaker piece... I COULD stop, and frog and use another color of thread... but I am holding out that someone will be able to swap or sell or whatever with me!!

I worked a bit on Tulip Garden... added pink to the mix, cause the gold wasn't working for me in some of the spots. Long ways to go, but it is a pleasurable stitch. I will finish it this year, and am planning to make a small quilted wallhanging with it. Won't that be pretty?

I've done some other stitching, but nothing to show. I am planning to sell off some stash soon. I was thinking to do it on FB but... do you think any of you followers would be interested? I could make a separate page and list them. What do you think?

That's it for now.

Turtle Trot Post for February 2015

Well, even though I have shown my progress on the Turtle Trot projects in earlier posts, I wanted to do an 'official' post to share progress... little as it may be!

Finished 'Song of Spring' by Blackbird Designs

Finished two more Lizzie Kate Double Flip Its ( Listen and Learn) --I think there are about six left!

And I worked a bit on Maryse Dupont's 2014 SAL

So, that's it... for those ten projects I picked...

However, I added another long project to my mix --a freebie that is similar to the Campfire one, in that reverse kind of way, but is on white. Have to admit, I keep checking and double checking myself on it! But it is going to be great! It is a freebie called White Snow that someone on FB was doing... here is a picture--not the best but all I got!

I have picked up the needle a few times, but... not much to show, so that is it for today.

It is rainy and cold here today, so no birding... I am off to sit and stitch actually!! Wow!

Quick Update... more to come later...

A big Thank You to those of you who have inquired and prayed for my Granddaughter with the surgery on Monday. Just wanted to say she came through it well, according to the neurosurgeon. It took a shorter amount of time than usual, and the doctor said that was because the films and scans were so good, he knew just what to do. There have been some ups and downs in the recovery process and her discharge on Thursday, but she IS home and it is being worked out. The main problem is that when the pain becomes too great, she gets upset and very panicky. Time will take care of this, along with our prayers and the loving care of family.

Again, I want to thank you! Prayers move mountains!

(Unfortunately, I had to leave on Tuesday because I wasn't feeling well, and found I had pneumonia again (seems like at least once a winter I get this!). But no one is showing symptoms in NC so that is good! And I have started to feel better, so all is good!
