WIPs, PIFs and RAKs--oh my!!

Been silent, I know... Been pretty busy. I finished-finished my 3 PIFs (Pay It Forwards) and mailed them out on Saturday. So far, one has been received--I will post pictures about it tomorrow... too tired to get them uploaded tonight. Stitched on my WIP that I previously posted about--Cheryl's Bouquet, and made decent progress. Again, tomorrow... uploading... And also sent a couple of RAKs out.

Had company two weekends ago, and life was a blur! My daughter and her 3 daughters stayed with us from Thursday through Monday night. So, my other daughter who lives locally also came over, so it was a full house (11 people!!). I am tired just thinking about it. I learned something new--fun manicures and pedicure tricks. And I got a new Henna! Maybe I will post pictures of them too... Note to self: need new air mattresses! Both the aerobeds developed leaks! Great!! Just great! Grrrrr...

Just finished the end of the month at work, and though I am not directly involved in the goings-on, I am wiped-out tired! Just having the urgent, chaotic, frenetic vibes around me did me in... Things did not go well, due to poor planning and unscheduled absences, which dumped work onto others, and well, you get the idea... Bubbled over to my area several times. I always try to assist and be helpful. But some things I cannot do! MY job is going to grow very soon, so I better start taking some vitamins!!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone!

Nine Words Women Use

I used to keep great sayings and quotes and the like in a sticky note on my desktop. I recently found a compilation that I had saved from who-knows-when in a file hidden away in my desktop. It is from my prior desktop, so unless I notated the source, it's anybody's guess as to ownership on some of these. But--I HAD to share this one! It's a hoot! And SO SO TRUE!!

1: Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
2: Five minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
3: Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
4: Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
5: Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a nonverbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing)
6: That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's Okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
7: Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'You're welcome'. That will bring on a 'Whatever')
8: Whatever: is a woman's way of saying **** You!
9: Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?' For the woman's response, refer to #3.

That's all for today folks! Off to stitch!

Hugs, Maggee

A bit of finishing to show...

Though I cannot show ALL that I have finished, I can show a few pieces! First is Seaside as a pillow finish. Love this one! It is in a book of designs, all beach or ocean themed. You will be seeing more from it soon, as I want my office to be beach-themed and some of it stitched!

Next is Fresh Spring, by Homespun Elegance, done as a pillow. I stitched tiny rick rack around the edge, and really love it! The rick rack is overdyed by R&R, and is perfect!

And then there is my long-time WIP finally finished! It is Quaker Faith Hope Love by Midnight Stitching. I started this when I first began to use linen, and I absolutely hated the white thread with linen! So, I put it away. Now white thread and I are friends again, so I whipped it right out. It WAS done by the 4th, just haven't blogged to show you! You can see the backing fabric in the mirrow.

AND I finished this America by Glory Bee on the 4th, but again--no time to blog about it!

Next is Joy by Homespun Elegance, finished as a tiny little pillow. Used twine to frame it... new for me!

And this pillow is so perfectly matched with the backing fabric, I decided not to use any trim... right now!

I thought I would leave you with a shot from my yard--though technically these blooms are rooted in my neighbor's yard... But isn't it a gorgeous flower? I believe it is a tiger lily... someone will let me know if it is not... Just beautiful...
