I won a Pay It Forward Challenge!

Karen in Arizona posted on her blog about doing a PIF (Pay It Forward). And I won! So, what do I have to do? I will have to send at least 5 stitching accessories to 2 other persons within a year. It can be any combination of things, such as threads, buttons, trims, needles, pins, whatever! So easy!! And I have decided to end the year by personally asking two fellow stitchers to be my recipients! As a recipient, you must also agree to do the same to two others, and post about it on YOUR blog. So, I will be emailing two lucky recipients tonight!

(An example of some accessories that can be sent in this PIF) Gee, I hope they want to play with me!!

Final Finish and Final Tally for 2011!

I cannot believe it!! I completed 66 stitched pieces this year!! I exceeded my total from last year!! I may have missed a few but that is what I see from my blog, anyway! And I completed my Final finish last night--Winter Band Sampler by Little House! Too cute! Not a hard stitch... Started it after Christmas.

I spent time with a stitching buddy today, working on a WIP from my Challenge pieces. The Bent Creek one, called Cabin in the Woods. Did a good amount on it. It will be one of my projects to finish in 2012. I want to finish all the ones I listed for this year, along with at least 8 or 9 new starts (and ornaments as it strikes me!). No pressures, just would LIKE to get these done, if at all possible. Not going to join in any Year-long Challenges or WIPocalypses, just going to stitch as it pleases me. That is my New Year wish! What is yours??

Blessings to all my followers this last night of 2011!

A few more finish pictures...

I have pictures of my last few seasonal finishes. Only one was finish-finished and given to the recipient. Lost my finishing mojo... I HOPE to finish stitching Winter Band Sampler by Little House before the new year, so that will round out my finishes. I have no idea how many I did this year... guess I will count on New Year's Day.

Wishing Ewe Joy from Lizzie Kate's Tiny Tidings IX. Love it!

This is a variation on a Freebie called Holiday Spirit by Samplerbird Stitchery. I was in a beading mood. Came out kind of cute. Used Noel variegated thread by Weeks.

Gave this Lizzie Kate one to a friend, thus the finish. Darned if I can find the chart to give you the name!!

I used a piece of overdyed rick rack from Victorian Motto and a tiny charm on the right at the top that says 'Made with Love'. My friend loved it!! She loves sheep, and loves the true meaning of Christmas, so it was perfect!

This is Merry Christmas by Country Cottage Needleworks from the just Cross Stitch ornament issue this year. I think I will make a cube! Love the new colors--goes with last year's ornament, Merry and Bright, that I love dearly!

I did do another one on 25-count fabric, from the 2010 JCS ornament magazine called Oh Joy by Val's Stuff. I finished it and gave it away in the Ornament Exchange we have at my LNS--without snapping a photo of it! Dang!

Christmas morning, I made my daughters open their stitched pieces together, and then show each other... They were done to 'match' their home style and personalities. Cannot wait to see where they may hang!

Well, going to go stitch now...

IHSW pictures

I did manage to get a little stitching done this weekend. I threw away two projects (yes, I really did--they were not pleasing me... I had not gotten far, so it was Okay! Really!!) but I did complete the N-O-E-L for my dining room wall. The letters are from a Lizzie Kate chart named ABC-XYZ I think... I had a very busy weekend, so it is a miracle I got ANY stitching completed! Without further ado:

Off to work!

Down for a little while...

I AM stitching a little, but not doing so much on the computer right now. Recovering from a surgical procedure, which was mainly exploratory so no relief yet...waiting for results. Have to go back to work today, so it will take me a few days to catch up and get in the swing of things again. I appreciate all your comments of late, even if I do not reply back. Bear with me! I will be back! Hugs, Maggee

HOHOHO in a row finish

Well, maybe Blogger has developed an allergy to phone pictures, because I took this one with my camera and it worked!(I still LOVE my iPhone!!) So, here is my Lizzie Kate finish, HoHoHo in a Row. I am thinking of trimming it and making it into a hanging piece. We shall see...

Thanks for visiting!

A couple more finishes to show you! And one I cannot--thanks Blogger!!

I just put the last stitch into my LK Christmas piece, HoHoHo in a Row, and it is cute! Haven't even ironed it yet, and will no doubt finish-finish it tonight so there will be a better picture tomorrow, but here is it for now--oh Wait!! Blogger is loading it upside down!! GRRRRR... I will try to fix it and load it later. I used my iphone, and maybe that is the problem...

Next is how I finished November word play--as a door hanger. Kinda cute, but short-lived! Soon I will have Christmas up!!

And finally, my finished Mystery SAL by Carol, at ... I just had an inspiration on how to finish it, so perhaps this weekend I will post it again.

Well, that is all for now. Hope you are enjoying the day off like I am! Ahhh... no stress...

IHSW weekend pictures, PLUS...

I spent Saturday afternoon stitching with a friend, and that is the most stitching I got done this weekend. I finished two pieces this week, including one Friday evening as the kick-off to my International Hermit Stitching Weekend. I sure wish I could have hermited more!! This is Love in a Manger by Brightneedle. I am going to have it framed in red... Won't it be cute??

And this is my start on HoHoHo in a Row, another Lizzie Kate Quick It! I hope to finish this real soon!

I was given this piece about two years ago (WHY IS IT SIDEWAYS???!!!). I knew just what I wanted to put in the cute frames--my two PS birds that I stitched, and two more that I was planning to stitch! I had started the first two on 35-count hand-dyed fabric from R&R, and had to wait for more to be dyed in order to do the last two birdies! But today I put them in the frames and with hubby's help, got it hung up in the dining room. Close-up of the left side... Need to get votives still...

And close-up of the right side...

I think it will look great with other finishes in the frames, too -- like N-O-E-L or L-O-V-E. Going to look for patterns tonight!

These are the three pieces, finished, that I sent to The Attic Needlework, in Mesa, AZ for the silent auction to benefit Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It was held this weekend, and I hope it was a success!

A little piece that was going to go to Myrtle Beach, but I was afraid it was not 'fall-ish' enough, so kept it! Well, Blogger is messing around with my pictures and I am pretty tired, so am going to close this post and try to do more this week. I have to finish the other pattern I stitched this week into a door hanger, then maybe get a few more stitches in on HOHOHO in a Row.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving holiday to those readers in the U.S.!

Put up a Myrtle Beach Page!

I just finished doing a Myrtle Beach 2011 page. You can see the link at the top of the posts. I think I will do other pages like that too--next year! Gonna work on another post with all my other finishes, besides the exchanges and stuff... Hugs, Maggee

Hey Everyone--I did that piece TWO times!!

My pictures must not show it as well as needed to differentiate that there are TWO DIFFERENT finishes of the same chart!! I did 'A New Day' by My Big Toe for two different people. One is on the green sparkly fabric, in more pastel colors, framed, and the other one is on a light blue fabric, with brighter colors, wrinkled and ready for framing!

Thanks for visiting!

The Giveaway Winner is....

Drum Roll please!!The winner by Random Generator is-- Joyce!! Please send me your address and I will get Olga right out to you!

I wish to thank everyone for entering the Giveaway and for the kind well-wishes. Still no resolution. Sure wish I could get some answers.

I finished the second 'It's a New Day' by My Big Toe for a gift (pardon the terrible wrinkles--just HAD to photograph it--so GLAD to be finished!!). I still did the 'God words' in purple and 'Love' in red! Going to look around at stores for a frame for kicks. It will be a Christmas gift also.

Gads!! I detest the new viewer of photos blogger has!! Yecch!!

**Note: I found a fix via someone else's blog, so all is well!! **

Hopefully will get a lot done this weekend, including continuing on with photos of finishes and framed pieces that I haven't shared. Am also cooking up a new Giveaway! Been going through my stash some more!

Till later,

The Answer is... and New 200+ Giveaway!!

Now, mind you, the riddle was from my middle granddaughter, who is 13, and I didn't get it either!! So, 'When does a star lose it's meaning?' 'When it is Pointless!' I am sorry no one got it... So, let's have another go at the Giveaway, shall we?!!

To Enter the NEW 200+ Giveaway, you must be a current follower, with an active Blog yourself, and you must comment on this post only! So, this will be a random drawing to pick the winner, but... I would really enjoy it if you would share your favorite piece that you have stitched! The name and designer would be perfect! Good luck!

And Thanks for sticking with me through all this time. Normally I would be posting lots more, but I still feel bad, bad, bad. I would get home from work, do dinner, and crash. Plus it didn't help that I went in to work early every day to make up time for doctor appointments, so worked 9 hours instead of 8 each day! But don't get me started about doctors!! Pffft!! This weekend I don't have much scheduled, so am going to play catch up on this blog. Be prepared for picture-heavy posts!

Update and a Quick Giveaway!!

I don't even know where to begin! Despite the fact that I am still in pain from the liver thing, and now from whatever came up in early October, I have managed to stitch a little, do some finishing and the BIGGEST thing was spend some time with my younger sister!! She flew here to Virginia, and then we went down to Myrtle Beach for the PALS Retreat! I have 'stuff' all over my office that I need to take pictures of, and put away or on display. Phew!

AND while I was away, I reached 200+ followers! I think that calls for at least a small Giveaway! So, the winner of the Giveaway must be a current follower AND actually have a stitching blog, and they must answer a riddle correctly--see below. The prize is the chart 'Olga' by Paulette of Plum Street Samplers--whom I met at the retreat, by the way. We chatted for a few minutes, and she was busy stitching on a new A-dorable chart that I must have!! You will see in a couple of weeks when she releases it. So without further ado, here is the riddle: "When does a star have no meaning?"

I will try to get back to this tomorrow night. Don't think I have anything planned except be anti-social and get caught up here!

Until then, Hugs, Maggee

Feeling poorly... and iSAD

I have been in a lot (more) pain since the weekend, and found out I have a kidney infection. My back really really hurts most of the time, despite the fact that I have been on one antibiotic since Tuesday. So, today, I called and when the nurse asked how I was feeling and I told her 'like crap!' she said 'no wonder! the meds you are taking cannot fight the bacterial infection you have." So, I go from taking 250mg of Cipro 2X a day for seven days to 875mg of Amoxicillin 2X a day for ten days! Big guns, eh?! So, all this to say my mojo is seriously dragging. I have lots to do, and I feel lousy! I need a fairy stitchmother!!

Perhaps the pain will diminish for the weekend, when I play catch-up! All that medicine--it should!!

I pulled a bunch of charts out for a Giveaway--stay tuned!

I am so sad about Steve Jobs... He was a great visionary, and will be sorely missed. I LOVE my iPhone!! I say that all the time! Especially when I discover something new I can do with it (no, I have not read the manuals yet!!) Thus, "iSAD" about his passing...

The PINK Project!!

Woo Hoo! I finished the Pink Project tonight!! Originally I was going to use this in an exchange, but just the other day a thought popped into my mind that it should go to The Attic's Breast Cancer Auction this fall, via my membership in Pumpkin Patch's blog.

In case someone doesn't know what it is, it is a 15-sided Biscornu, or sometimes it is called a Banurucotti. I stitched and beaded 15 little charts, then stitched and beaded them all together into an adorable cushion. The pattern is a freebie by Kathrin, at her blog here. So, what do you think? Will people want to bid on it? Hugs, Maggee

IHSW pictures

In my never-ending search for interesting blogs, I came across a site that encourages us to be 'hermits' one weekend a month! It is called International Hermit and Stitch weekend, and you can read more here. So, to keep myself accountable, I am posting pics of my weekend stitching. I only stitched Saturday--during the day with my stitching friends and more at night, after dinner, etc...Yesterday was a bust! So without further ado, here are progress pictures!

Part 4 of the IStitch Mystery SAL, which I did rather quickly Saturday! So cute!I have NO idea why blogger keeps flipping THIS chart sideways!! I reloaded it several times here...

This is my pitiful progress on A Weary World Rejoices by Shakespeare's Peddler, one of my Up for a Challenge pieces that has languished of late. I think it is going to be a leftover for next year, at this pace!! But I do like it a lot! I stitched from the S through the numbers and motifs there. A fair amount done. I would LOVE to finish it by Christmas but I know that ain't happening!

Today I worked on the beading on my 'pink' project. I received a random thought that I should think about where I intended to 'gift' this project... It is so so pretty! I may end up doing an extra project so that this 'pink' one goes to my new inspired place! Do I sound mysterious enough? Cause I am!! IF I decide to switch, then I will show pictures of it! Meanwhile, it is Lizzie Kate Lovers night, so I better get busy!It is fun to stitch along, virtually, with like-minded buddies!

Heavy with pictures Post!

I have been neglectful to update my blog, and I am sad about it. But I have excuses!! Between family visiting, me visiting family, babysitting and some seriously ill friends or spouses of friends--time has just flown! Oh--and I still haven't finished 'unpacking' from Hurricane Irene's visit! Sheesh!! Then I see ALL I have to do, and I get 'bogged down' and don't do anything--that was today! Oh, I shopped and am doing laundry... but anything for only ME--forget about it!! Not one stitch put in yet!! But--I did take AND download some pictures from around my house, as I was putting them all back or up depending on what they were (coming season or outgoing season, etc...)so I will at least share them!! Without further ado...
Framed At Home with Jane Austen piece from the Sampler Girl--everyone loves this one!

Fall Crow Freebie whose name escapes me! With my husband's help in painting the plaque (I picked the color!) and attaching the hanging stuff--a lovely finish!

Simply Live by The Primitive Needle...Not your usual Quaker colors, but I like it!

Framed Joy in the Journey by Diane Williams, in a prominent place in my foyer!! Those dents you see are gone now... been sitting out too long, in a pile, waiting to be hung up!

Part of my Autumn Display... I LOVE this copper basket!! Got it at our office auction in August for $10.00--you KNOW it is worth much more than that!!

Another view...

More of my Autumn pincushions on display... Rather skimpy... need more!!

A birthday gift from my dear friend, Sheryl(no longer blogging)!! This came as quite a surprise, because I gave HER the pattern years back! I didn't want to stitch it, but I surely loved getting it as a present!!

And another stitchy Birthday surprise from another dear friend, Darlene! Isn't it lovely!?!

I made some bird pillows for my ornament tree this summer. I had planned to also make butterflies, but ... did not happen. Next year birds and butterflies will follow the bunny tree!

I am doing Carol's IStitch Mystery SAL--this is with Part 3 completed. I have finished Part 4 but not yet photographed... It is done on 25 count lugana, and will be quite cute when finished. I have NO idea why it is sideways!

I finished a bigger piece by My Big Toe designs, called A New Day. It is on very tight 32-count sparkly fabric. I don't like the fabric at all... it was somewhat torturous to use! But it is so pretty. I did the God-words in my favorite color--purple, and Love is in Red of course! It will look nice hanging in a foyer...

I have more to show, but they have yet to be photographed...sigh...

Well, must go finish laundry. I am gathering stash for a De-Stash Giveaway--so be sure to come back soon!

I PROMISE I will be more 'newsy' later this week, but for now, suffice to say, we are fine after such a nature-filled week! First the earthquake and aftershock, then the hurricane. But no damages and have power, so am blessed beyond thinking!

I have a very dear friend who is going through really really rough times right now, and I am so closely wrapped in them, I am wiped nearly every day! It seems to be a time of health issues, because two other of my closest friends have been going thru 'stuff' of their own or of a spouse. (I am praying all the time for healing!!)But I will really try to get back to blogging this week, as I have LOTS to report. Be prepared for a long post! Or two!

Thanks for hanging in with me,

Hugs, Maggee

Two finishes

I have been away too long!! But been busy stitching whenever I can. So, without further ramblings, here are two finishes I CAN show you (still doing exchange pieces too!): Peace, Love and a Cure by Lizzie Kate, done on 32-count linen with a smattering of the called-for threads and other DMC threads. I think I will be making this into a flatfold. Been wanting to try that finish! Finished my version of the ABCD Sampler by La-D-Da, the Traveling Pattern ! I cannot send it out just yet, as I do not have the journal that goes with it. I used a piece of 32-count Rue Green linen, and HDF Deep Purple (two different dye lots)and GAST Cranberry. I like the way it looks. It will be framed--eventually!

Working away on A New Day--I am about half done the first one! And getting ready to start a few new ones, like a LK for Mondays and maybe a fall piece and a Christmas ornie or two! So much to do, so much to do!!

Giveaway Winner!

Okay--so I got busy doing finances, and then was too tired to play on the web! I am sorry for the delay in picking a winner! So, without further ado--the winner by random drawing is Vicki!! Please email me with your address, and I will send out your prizes this weekend!

Thanks to everyone that entered! I am currently working on an exchange piece, My Big Toe "A New Day" (One of TWO I have to do by Christmas!) and LK's "Peace, Love and a Cure" which I am going to try to make into a flatfold. We shall see! My Challenge pieces are not going to get much attention as I have lots of obligation stitching to finish before them. Sigh...I will try to post pics tonight.

I started to feel a little bit better this past Sunday, and it has continued--probably down from a constant 5 to a 2!! NO THANKS to any of the doctors I saw and have to see! But don't get me started...

Gotta run! Work is calling!

Hugs, Maggee

Finishes and a Giveaway

I have done some finishing and finished some stitched projects. Cannot show all of them, as some are exchanges, but there are a few!

First I finished Bee Sampler by LHN. It has gone out as a RAK, and she should get it this week. I think it is pretty cute! Love the mini rick-rack by R&R!

Next I finally made Jolly Holiday by Lizzie Kate into a cube! This is my second cube--the first is coming later in this post. I have ribbon for a bow, but don't like it and may shop for something different.

Then I have stitched two pieces for the Pumpkin Patch Breast Cancer Blog (see my sidebar) and ultimately for the Breast Cancer Auction Jean holds at The Attic in the fall. I haven't decided how I am going to finish-finish them yet.

And today I finished stitching Cast Your Cares by My Big Toe Designs! One of the Up for a Challenge pieces! Yay! I am going to get it framed and give it to our Aunt Mabel, who has dropped hints about receiving a stitched piece from me! Finished my patriotic piece by Blue Heron designs into a cube--my first! I followed the great instructions given by Vonna on her finishing tutorials blog.

And I finished the tiny Freedom stitched piece into a pin cushion! Unfortunately, the picture of the back fabby is blurry--I may take another picture tomorrow...

I have stitched, finished and given my PIF's to their recipients already, but forgot to take pictures! So, I went back and got one... so far! This piece is by Barbara Ana Designs, and it suited the stitcher perfectly. Word has it that Darlene went to Woodstock, and she loves butterflies. A fun pairing!

Now, to the Giveaway! July 25th is Threading the Needle Day, and in honor of this Great Holiday, I am having a Giveaway! I am giving away the chart for Cast your Cares by My Big Toe Designs AND a piece of 32-count Antique White Linen 13 X 15 which should be large enough to stitch it on! To be entered in the Giveaway, you must be a regular follower; and in your post to enter, you must divulge one thing about you that is little known by most people around you! For instance, you also went to Woodstock or something like that! It is all in fun, so do not worry if you get stuck! I will draw a name on the 25th, after dinner.

Thanks for reading if you got this far!

Hugs, Maggee
