Do-Over Clue # ?

Since the last clue was posted at night, thought I would give stitchers a chance to answer before posting the 'Do-Over' Clue tonight! And here it is: Both Mother and Daughter are cross stitch designers. That's it!! Those of you who get three (or more!) correct answers will have your names put in the random generator tomorrow night, and one will be selected to win the Patience 1898 chart and threads. Good luck to all! It has been fun! Hugs, Maggee

Jeopardy Clue #3

Whoops! I left this morning for work in such a hurry, I forgot to post the Clue!!

Here is #3: Three and five-letter descriptions from the world of cross stitching: SAL, LNS, WIP, BAP & SABLE

And.... I see a problem with Clue #2, so I will be adding an additional clue after today's. So many of you have answered 'What is a tail catcher?' which does describe what I was after, BUT.... I was looking for "What is a Dololly?" , made by Mardina years ago. Anything out now is an imitation of her SILVER accessory. The Dololly does catch the tails and tuck them... but I only have known this accessory as the Dololly. BTW--FOUR of you did get this clue--good job -- with Cindy Loo being the first, as of this writing! However, it really is splitting hairs, and I think a 'do-over' is in order. So, we will have another clue after today. Have fun! Hugs, Maggee

Jeopardy Giveaway!!

On March 30th, the Jeopardy Game will celebrate it's birthday in 1964. In honor of this fun game, I am having a Jeopardy Giveaway. Huh, you ask?? Well, I am going to pose three clues in 3 days, and to enter the Giveaway, you must answer each clue with the correct response, Jeopardy-style. For instance: Clue: "In 'Singin in the Rain, he knew how to 'Make 'Em Laugh' " --and you would answer: Who is Donald O'Connor? Those who answer ALL THREE clues will be put in the drawing for the prize on Wednesday, the 30th of March.

This is going to be a Stitching Jeopardy Game!! All the clues will be stitching related.

The prize is the chart "Patience 1898' by Hands to Work and the Needlepoint silks to stitch it! It was kitted for 40 count fabric, which I no longer have, so the threads are just enough for that count fabric. It is just too cute!

The first Clue is: This evenweave fabric comes in 25, 28 and 32 count and is sometimes called Brittney fabric.

Good luck everyone! Hugs, Maggee

Okay--Willie's Quaker 2 is finished!

Well, due to time constraints I could not post this any sooner. But--that one little strand of thread in the picture in the previous post was ENOUGH to stitch the bird!! I was doing one strand over two...He is a tad bit shorter due to the thread situation, but he will do nicely! I must dash to work now, so will hopefully post about a giveaway tonight! Hugs, Maggee

Almost A Finish!

Thought I had finished stitching Willie's Quaker 2 last night! Yay! And as you will see, I couldn't let it be as charted... so I got a couple of strands of DMC 498 and stitched the little heart 2 over 2 (the rest of the piece is 1 over 2 silk by Dinky Dyes). I LOVE it!! The strand of thread you see around the edges is ALL I had left of my skein of silk! BUT----as I photographed it, I see that I never did stitch the bird up at the top on the right in that empty spot!! Now I have to go get another skein!! Darn!! So close!!! I sure hope my LNS has the silk on hand!! Oh I am SO bummed now... woke up all excited, now it is crash and burn!!

Thinking of having a fun Giveaway soon... Just haven't quite formulated the 'game' yet!

Pumpkin Patch & Co. Breast Fund

I have been meaning and meaning to mention that I have joined the Pumpkin Patch & Co. Breast Fund blog, which is made up of members that are stitching projects that will be auctioned off by The Attic in the Fall, and all proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. I followed the auction last year, and it was quite an event. There were so many beautiful items for auction! You could tell people really put their hearts into it! So, I am doing that also! I think the stitched pieces need to be mailed out by mid-October, so there is plenty of time. Why not join us? You can visit the blog here or I have posted a link to it on my sidebar below.

Thanks.

Hugs,

Maggee

Finished Shamrock Sampler & Oh My Goodness!

Here is the finished Shamrock Sampler, with a bling charm at the top--perfect fit too! I am stunned to hear about the earthquake, and SO TENSE waiting to hear about the Tsunami waves. Having been born and raised in San Francisco, and having gone through a scare in 3rd grade, my back is SO tense from the worry!! Pray that damages are at a minimum! Gotta run to work... Hugs, Maggee

Progress pictures and a RAK

Since I am at home, recovering from bronchitis, thought I would post pictures of MOST of what I am stitching on... I wanted to stitch another Pelin Tezer piece, and picked Shamrock Sampler. It is on 32-count Waterlily linen, with GAST Mistletoe thread. Man, I hope I have enough... getting down to the wire tho... Next is my pitiful progress on the LHN Monthly, for May. ALMOST finished the border. Hoping to finish Willie's Quaker 2 this month--should happen! Karen RAK-ed me with the Fall Floral Sampler, to go with my Spring one! WE are on the hunt for Winter and Summer now! Hugs, Maggee

St. Patrick's Giveaway Update--picture!

I finally took the time to look around and find the project supplies, and find that there is NOT a charm with the kit, but BEADS! Here is a picture of the kit. It looks like the fabric is overdyed too! There are two skeins of Emerald Watercolours by Caron, and one skein each of DMC Perle Cotton #5 in Black and Green (500), plus a package of gold seed beads. Not a bad haul! It will be a cute pillow or wall hanging! Drawing is tomorrow! Stay tuned! Hugs, Maggee

The other finish... and St. Patrick's Day Giveaway!!

I finished the beading Sunday, but life has been a bit hectic around here with everyone being sick. Anyway, here is 'Be Joyful in Hope' by Little House Needleworks. It's wrinkled still, but I really like it! In fact, I am going to stitch it again! Smaller, no beads, but it will be adorable too! So, in honor of St. Patrick's Day this year, I am giving away a chart and ALL the supplies to stitch it! It is an OLD chart! Watercolour Shamrocks by Sekas and Co., and the fabric is for making it into a pillow (like 9 count heatherfield). Unfortunately, right at this minute, I cannot put my hands on the package I had bundled up, but have grabbed a picture of the chart from the net... Giveaway includes fabric, fibers and a charm. I have done other charts like this, and they were fun--they use a variety of threads and a variety of stitches, with detailed explanations. In order to win, you must be a follower, and post a comment here. This is going to be a QUICK Giveaway, and I cannot mail out of the U. S. (in case the winner wants to stitch it up by 3-17!!). I will draw a winner on Thursday, March 10th! Good luck! Hugs, Maggee

Thought I had 2 finishes to show...

I have been stitching away, and thought I had finished two pieces. But, when I looked at the chart and then my piece of LHN 'Be Joyful in Hope' I saw that I neglected one whole bunch of flowers that I was going to do in beads! Good thing I noticed it before finishing it! Anyway, despite have GREAT sicknesses in my household, I did manage to finish one piece: Bless Our Home, by Homespun Samplar. I will be either framing it in fabric as a wallhanging or if I can find a suitable frame or talk my hubby into framing it... Just haven't searched yet. I will post progress pics later... I have been working on all kinds of projects. Irish Giveaway coming soon! Maggee
